International Bison Convention 2022

About the Convention

The Canadian Bison Association, in partnership with the Saskatchewan and the U.S. National Bison Associations is excited to host the International Bison Convention to celebrate the rich history and promising future of the bison industry. The convention is held in Canada every 10 years and will be held in Saskatoon on July 12-15, 2022.

The event will welcome close to 800 delegates who are stakeholders in the bison community including producers, chefs, consumers, researchers, conservationists, marketers, and policy makers.

Millions of bison roamed the plains of North America and were driven to near extinction in the late 1800s. Through the dedication of bison producers, conservationists, First Nations leaders, and government officials the North American bison herd has been restored to almost 500,000 head. Almost 200,000 of these bison are on Canadian ranches, federal and provincial parks, First Nation Communities, and non-government organizations supporting the growth of the bison herd. The bison recovery is one of the greatest conservation stories in recent history.

Become part of history as the next chapter of this success story is being written. Listen to inspirational speakers on bison history, conservation, research, marketing, and the business of bison. Also, you will have the opportunity to visit local landmarks including Wanuskewin Heritage Park before, during, or after the convention.

If you are driving to Saskatoon, from the north, east, south, or west, stop at the many historical sites and points of interest that have been identified, or visit with producers who have offered to make their ranch available to visitors.

Join us in Saskatoon July 12 – 15, 2022 to learn, network, and celebrate as we honour this great animal that brings us together. There is Strength in the Herd.

Our Vision

Our vision for the 2022 Bison Convention is to create a gathering to honour ‘Bison’.  A keystone species of the past and present.

Our Mission

Our mission is to host an international celebration of the bison and the peoples associated with bison. To provide an opportunity to share with others the history, and the future of the bison.
